CHICKENS FOR LOYALTY, NOT FOR DEVELOPMENT

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has once again shown that Zanu PF will never change. They want people to stay poor so they can control them. Today in Torwood, Kwekwe, Mnangagwa gave 10 000 chicks and stockfeed to the Zanu PF Women’s League in the Midlands. He said it is part of the Presidential Poultry Scheme. But this is not about helping the people. This is just another way of buying loyalty.
For many years, Zanu PF has made sure that Zimbabweans stay in poverty. This is not a mistake. It is a plan. When people are poor, they depend on the ruling party for food, jobs, and help. They are afraid to speak out or vote for the opposition. They fear losing the little they get. That is why the government keeps giving chickens and mealie-meal instead of building a strong economy with proper jobs.
In a normal country, the government helps people get work and earn their own money. People do not need to beg from politicians. There is a stable economy and people are rewarded for hard work. But in Zimbabwe, the leaders use poverty as a weapon. They give to those who support them and ignore those who do not. This is not leadership. It is manipulation.
The Presidential Poultry Scheme sounds like a good idea. But when you think deeply, it is a trap. The 10 000 chicks will not fix the big problems in our country. They will not fix the economy. They will not stop corruption. They will not bring back the factories that Zanu PF destroyed. The chicks are only for a few people who are close to the ruling party.
Real change means giving every Zimbabwean a fair chance. It means helping all farmers, all workers, and all businesses to grow, not just Zanu PF members. It means people must succeed because of hard work, not because of politics. But Zanu PF is afraid. If people become rich and independent, they will not need the party anymore. So Zanu PF makes sure people stay poor and dependent.
It is very sad. Year after year, the same thing happens. When elections come or when Zanu PF feels pressure, they start giving handouts. Chickens, mealie-meal, food parcels, and money. But after the elections or the ceremonies, everything goes back to normal. People go back to suffering. The leaders go back to enjoying their lives. Nothing changes.
Now the Women’s League in Midlands will be told to work hard and be thankful to the President. They will be told to vote for him and his party. This is not development. This is a political game. They are being used. Zanu PF wants them to feel like they owe the party. This is how Zanu PF keeps power.
Zimbabwe is not poor. We have good land, minerals, and smart people. But we have bad leaders. Leaders who fear real development. Leaders who fear people who can think for themselves. As long as Zanu PF is in power, Zimbabwe will not grow. They want to keep the people small so they can stay big.
We must not be fooled. We must speak out. We must say no to these fake solutions. Handouts will not fix our country. We need strong policies. We need jobs, working hospitals, working schools, and working industries. We need leaders who care about everyone, not just their supporters.
Until we get that, Zimbabwe will remain stuck. Zanu PF will keep giving chickens, and the people will keep clapping with empty stomachs. This is not the Zimbabwe we want. We must demand better. We must fight for a future where success is not a gift from a politician, but a right for every citizen.
