ZIM HOSPITALS ARE DYING AND SO ARE THE PEOPLE

Zimbabwe’s hospitals are in a very bad state. People are dying every day because there is no medicine, no equipment, and no proper care. The buildings are old, the staff are tired, and the system is broken. Everyone in the country knows this. But now, even people in government are starting to see the truth.
Tino Machakaire, the Minister of Youth, was shocked when he visited a hospital recently. He said what he saw made him very sad. He went there to see a relative but left feeling heartbroken. The place was not fit for people. It was dirty, poorly managed, and full of sick people who were not getting help.
This is not new to us. Many Zimbabweans have been shouting about this problem for a long time. But the government has not listened. They pretend everything is okay. They say our hospitals are improving. They say they are working hard. But this is a lie. The truth is that nothing is getting better. Things are getting worse.
Machakaire wrote to President Mnangagwa after the visit. He told him to go and see the hospitals for himself. He told him that the people are suffering. He said it is not just talk or noise on social media. He said the complaints are real and serious.
In his words, Machakaire said: “What I saw was deeply moving — a clear indication that many of our people are facing serious challenges.” He added that the President is known for being humble and caring, and so he must take time to visit the hospitals.
But we must ask this: why is it only now that the minister is seeing the truth? Why has it taken him so long to notice the pain of the people? And why should we believe that anything will change just because he wrote a letter?
The truth is, this government has failed. ZANU PF has been in power for over 40 years. In that time, our hospitals have gone from bad to worse. Our doctors run away to other countries. Our nurses strike because they are not paid well. The poor die in silence while the rich go to private clinics or fly out of the country.
We cannot be quiet anymore. We must speak out louder. We must tell the world what is happening. Our mothers are giving birth on the floor. Our fathers are dying from simple illnesses. Our children are crying from pain. All because the leaders do not care.
Machakaire’s words are too little, too late. If he really cares, he must do more than just talk. He must stand with the people. He must tell Mnangagwa that this is a crisis. He must demand action, not just give praise and write nice words.
This is not about politics. This is about life and death. A government that cannot fix hospitals is a government that should step down. Zimbabweans deserve better. We need leaders who will fix our health system. We need leaders who feel the pain of the people.
As a political activist, I say this to all young people: open your eyes. Do not be fooled by sweet words. Look at the hospitals. Look at your sick relatives. Ask yourself, is this the life we deserve? If not, then let us fight for change.
ZANU PF must go. We need a new future. One where hospitals are places of healing, not of death. One where the government listens, acts, and puts the people first. Enough is enough.
