PARLIAMENT NOW A CRIME SCENE AS MPS GET BRIBES TO SAVE MNANGAGWA

Zimbabwe’s Parliament is now like a crime scene. This is the view of the National Democratic Working Group (NDWG) led by Job Sikhala. The group says Members of Parliament (MPs) are no longer working for the people. They are now only thinking about themselves and getting money. They are now doing everything to save President Emmerson Mnangagwa from impeachment.

Reports say that some MPs met in Mabelreign, Harare. They gathered there to collect stands. These stands are said to be a bribe. The aim is for these MPs to vote against removing Mnangagwa from power. This is because the President is fighting for his political life.

This comes after the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works confirmed that 70 stands were given to MPs just two days ago. These stands were shared in three places. In Killarney, Goromonzi, 15 stands were given. In Penrose, Zvimba, another 15 stands were given. And in Mabelreign, Harare, 40 stands were given.

Many people believe that this is a way of bribing MPs. But the Ministry of Local Government says this is not new. They say this is not a bribe. They say this programme started a long time ago, in 2013. The Ministry says it is a non-monetary benefit. It is supposed to help MPs so they do not struggle to find a place to stay.

The Ministry even released a press statement. In the statement, they explained how the stands are given to MPs. They said the programme started in the 8th Parliament. It continued in the 9th Parliament. And now it is still happening in the current 10th Parliament.

They said that since this programme started, stands have been given in many places. In Goromonzi, 188 stands were given. In Bulawayo, 49 stands were given. In Chiredzi, 12 stands were given. In Kadoma, 9 stands were given. And in Beitbridge, 5 stands were given.

On the 9th of April 2025, they gave another 70 stands. This is where the latest issue started. The government says this is not corruption. They say it is part of taking care of MPs, just like they do for war veterans, women, youths, and civil servants.

The Ministry also said that this is written in the Constitution of Zimbabwe. They say giving people houses is part of their job. They say they will continue to update the public about this programme.

But Job Sikhala’s group does not believe this story. They believe that these stands are a bribe. They believe the timing is suspicious. Why now? Why give these stands when there is talk of impeaching Mnangagwa?

Sikhala’s group says Parliament is supposed to protect the will of the people. It is supposed to stand for truth and democracy. But now it has become a place of crime. It has become a place where MPs fight for benefits and forget about the people who voted for them.

Many Zimbabweans are angry. They feel betrayed. They feel that MPs are being bought to protect Mnangagwa. They feel that instead of fighting for the people, MPs are now fighting for their pockets.

This issue has raised many questions. Is this really a benefit or is it a bribe? Is this about helping MPs or is it about saving Mnangagwa? Zimbabweans are watching closely. The truth will come out one day. But for now, Parliament remains under heavy suspicion.
